Frequently Asked Questions
Do you own and operate the yachts for charter?
We take pride of investing, maintaining, and operating our 10 sailing yachts strictly for commercial purposes since 1995. Our berthing spots have also been at the same central location in a seaside suburb of Athens (21 minute drive from central Athens...6 miles/9.7 km) since our initial business launch. Therefore, we have no commission based intermediaries when you're dealing directly with us.
What is the minimum number of days for a charter? Embarkation/Disembarkation times?
During the high summer season, June through September, the minimum number of days to charter/rent the yacht is 7 days (thus seven day intervals)...from Saturday (5pm embarkation) to Saturday (9am disembarkation). Typically depart from Athens and return to the base in Athens.
Do I need to hire a skipper? Can I hire/include a cook/hostess?
Unless you do not have a valid skipper/marine type of certificate/license, a professional skipper must be hired. The extra fee is €180 per day/€1260 per week plus meals. Tips are discretionary and 10% is adequate in Greece.
A cook/hostess is also an option for a charge at €180 per day/€1190 per week plus meals. She prepares your food, helps with cleaning and gets the kids (if applicable) busy with activities.
Is there a deposit for damages just like at a hotel? Cleaning Fee?
Indeed there is a refundable deposit of €2000 which will only be applied in case there are any damages on the yacht or any of its equipment missing upon return. This can be paid by credit card or in cash. No cheques/checks!
There is a €100 end cleaning and linen & towel washing fee.
What is not included in the charter fee?
Your charter/rental fee pays for the use/enjoyment of the yacht, its facilities, and the dinghy with the outboard motor. However, what's not included are:
-
The skipper and/or cook/hostess (optional)
-
The fuel and water (for cleaning and showers). Both tanks are full when you take over the yacht. Both equal approximately €150/week
-
Port/Marina fees other than at its base in Alimos marina
-
Food/provisioning and beverages.
What is the youngest age of a person I can bring onboard? Are dogs/pets allowed?
There's no minimum age for children on chartered sailing yachts in Greece; however, careful consideration and precautions are essential for younger children's safety. While some charter companies may have specific age restrictions for certain activities or itineraries, families are generally welcome to bring children of all ages. Kindly advise in advance in order to have life jackets available for them (imperative) or you can bring your own. Safety & security are paramount for us.
As for your furry animal, it's welcome onboard. ;-)
Who takes care of provisioning the yacht?
Provisions and beverages are not included in the charter fee, however, we can assist you with this as there is a supermarket in close proximity which also offers delivery.
What is included and don’t need to bring?
-
All bed linen
-
Blankets… although you are unlikely to need them!
-
Navigation instruments (dividers etc.)
-
Pilot books or charts
Do you provide airport/hotel transfers?
Yes, we do but at the customer's account. Kindly advise from/to where in Athens and we will be pleased to assist with reliable transport...whether it's for a car or a van.
Do I need to tip the skipper?
Tipping the skipper and/or cook/hostess (if applicable), is at your discretion, especially the amount. In Greece, tipping is typically 10%-15%. In this regard, it will be based on the weekly hire fee for the skipper and cook/hostess.
What are the 3-season hire periods which reflect the charter rates?
The 3-season charter periods are as follows:
Lowest Rates: PERIOD C...May 16 until June 13
Mid-range Rates: PERIOD B...June 14 until July 11 & August 22 until September 26
High-Season, Highest Rates: PERIOD A...July 12 until August 21
**The starting price indicated on this website for each yacht refers to the low season (Period C).
